Some major changes have taken place in the past 12 months with the rapid evolution of the SVGA, XGA and SXGA Data Projectors. The changes include Brightness levels measured in ANSI Lumens (AL)  from 1,000 ANSI Lumens to 10,000 ANSI Lumens and still growing. The resolutions ranging from SVGA (800x600) upto UXGA, with XGA (1,024 x 768) being the main stream. The average weight of a Data projector one year ago was about 3kg now down to the lowest of under 1kg. The size of Data Projectors is also reducing both in Volume and Weight from a large briefcase to smaller than a laptop in size.

There are now 3 main categories in Data Projectors being ultra portable under 1kg to 2.5kg, Portables 3kg to 5kg and Installables over 5kg. The two main resolutions at this point is SVGA (800 x 600) and XGA (1024 x 768). SXGA (1280 x 1024) has also started to make its mark in the Projector Market.

The amount of manufacturing companies producing Data Projectors has also increased giving a wider choice to purchases. Manufacturers have risen from 12 to 26 not including OEM's who purchase large quantities of Data Projectors from manufacturers and place their own name on the product. 

Plasma Displays are the latest development in Display Technology. Adaptable to many uses at home or at work, these screens can display both Data and Video Signals in a variety of resolutions. Plasma Displays are available in a range of sizes, from 32" to the latest 80". LCD Monitors are a popular option for a smaller screen size ranging from 12" to 40".
